Why do you believe or have faith in the Bible?

The Bible is the written word from the Creator of the Universe.

1. The word of God. The Bible is the Answer to the search for truth. The Word of God answers existential questions like why are we (humans) here. How did we get here. Where are we going. The biggest, hardest, questions in life are answered in the Bible. 

2. Did you know it is the #1 Selling book in the world. Historical Accuracy based on archeology, historical accounts, and even people outside of the Bible. 

3. If you believe, read, study, your life will be transformed. Be Transformed. - Romans 12: 2 In this world you will have trouble. - John 16: 33. I have come so that they may have life and have it abundantly. - John 10: 10

4. What God has done in my life. Grace, Mercy, Love. Every answer on how to live your life is found in the Bible and its counterintuitive.

5. The word of God in the Bible answers every question about life and how to live it to its fullest. Without it, we corrupt ourselves, live more harshly, and die. The word of God is life-giving. It provides and produces life.

6. You can test the Bible’s Gospels (or any other historical document) based on the following:

  • Internal Consistency - (There is no contradiction in the text)

  • Literary Style - (It’s not written as “once upon a time” It is written like the New York Times with eye witness reporting) 

  • Archeology Evidence - (The places are real like Jerusalem, Galilee, & Rome and the people in the book are people who actually lived…and died for Christ) 

  • Manuscript Evidence - Approximately 5,200 manuscripts or pieces of manuscripts have been found that document the Bible

7. Does it require faith? Yes. to believe in the Bible does require faith. This is not a blind faith, however it is a faith based on evidence. Begin to read it to discover more.

What is the Bible?

  • The Bible is a divine-human book meaning it is written by God and by man. God is the ultimate author but not necessarily the immediate author.

  • The Bible is an ancient collection of 66 books inspired from God, written by men who lived at a specific time, who came from a specific region, who were part of a specific culture.

  • God providentially prepared each and every contributor of the Bible for the task of actually writing it.

    The Bible was not written to us, but for us. We are not the original audience although the teachings still hold true and we can apply them to our lives today.

    The consistent story of redemption leading up, to, and through Jesus is the persistent narrative throughout the entire Bible.
